~~ Music

Here's a bunch of music to listen to from all over the place. Some of it you may find on albums, and some of it is live concert stuff or home made experiments.

Alone is Alone is Alone - (2008)

ALONE IS ALONE IS ALONE is something about the inherent heart break that hovers upon the relationship between the artist and his ever changing status in the world. It's an eternal battle of sorts; on the one hand, there's the urgent need to get somewhere, saying something, and on the other hand there's this gnawing sense of going nowhere, with nothing to say. Or worse, going nowhere with something to say. Or worse yet, going somewhere HUGE with nothing to say. Or worse, what ever. There's always something worse, that's for sure, in that darkly road of a fervent artist. So depressing, but then, there's the music getting in the way, and it makes you sunddelnly believe. Against all odds, of course. I mean, listen to these bunch of musicians. It's really a celebration. This first single from the new album was one of the last to be recorded. Most of the musicians heard the song for the first time the day we recorded it. I called the harmonica player on that very day (I had met him a couple of days earlier per chance), and asked him if he was free just now, to come to the studio, and give the song a spontaneous blow. Oh man, he did. The greatest blow job ever.

If this is your low tide, I'm on the wrong side, hearing your pride beaten down, flat on the ground, wings flapping around, crying for help. No body cares, as you're falling from grace, and the race keeps numbing your heart to the craze. No body listens, there's no intermission, the world keeps spinning, not easing your mind. No one cares anymore, once a star once a whore; no one covers your song, no one's rolling a stone. Get it into your head, baby, alone is alone is alone!

After the Storm - from After The Storm (2006)

As an entire city went down in the storm, and it felt like yesterdays' grace was heavily hid in the dark, bare foot and mud painted, with a trace of long love-drunk nights. After the dark storm comes the shattering calm.
Crispy bright light shines on; it only cuts deeper in the sad eyes looking for home.
Everyone wears the skin that one bears, or else, trying to get by.
Cold bottled water, struggling accents and palaces cutting the sky.
and I see the rainbow, knocking at my window, playing hard to get with my heart.

Anything More (With David Sky)

One of those songs I wrote with David Sky, within about 15 minutes, and performed it live the next day, in a concert. It's all about some kind of love after all.

My Secret Roads - recorded in Glasgow

Originally this song was called "The Night of The Singer Songwriter" and lasted forever. I shaved up its lyrics by half. Here is the Scottish, short version.

Handsome Boy

Handsome Boy was written in my local bar in Jerusalem. There are moments that have that magic about them, that's instantly translated into music. Nothing would have defined those moments more graciously or more poetically than a song, I guess. Oh, that powerful notion of handsomeness is forever a mystery. Anyway, this song started with one particular handsome boy I saw at the bar one night. Since then, I met a bunch of them handsome boys, and everyone of them can dig a line or two to fit in with their particular sort of handsoemness. Notice the trombone line (A.A. Cool), that handsome boy can surly make me cry. Also playing beautifully with me are Assaf Krauss (drums) and Assa Bookleman (guitar).

Heaven Held

You know that feeling, when you just gotta give LOVE a chance tonight! 'Cause you know it never lasts too long. But then, what if it DOES go on and on and on? Notice the AMAZING cry of the trombone. It kills.

Brooklyn Beat - from The Move

"There ain't a song that gets as real, as lovers race down a record deal"
It's really a love song to my best friend, with whom I used to write songs over long distant calls between NYC and Jerusalem, while carefully watching who's making it first. Not that we ever had a clear idea where we were going, but we were going anyway, racing each other on the way. You gotta really love and trust the one you're racing against like that. I guess we both still do.

The Wedding Song

Now what's worse, having sex with a girl who doesn't like Bob Dylan, or Not having sex with a girl who DOES like Bob Dylan? My personal answer to that would probably shock you, but I'll leave it at that. However, the answer, my friends, is NOT in the song. Or is it?
